Kayaking by Ryan
We got up and completed our schoolwork for the day. It was pretty hard and it took up my whole morning. Later we decided to rent 2 tandem kayaks (a tandem kayak holds 2 people) and paddle to the dam. It took a while but we finally got there. It was amazing! When it was time to go back my dad complained "Darn it!" "I forgot about my conference call." So he gave the paddle to me and said "Your turn." I paddled back happily. When we got back I made a fire in the fire pit while my dad grilled our hamburgers. After dinner I made some s'mores and we hung out around the fire. It was a fun day. OR WAS IT? MUHAHAHAHAHA!

Still in Hot Springs
Our original plan was to head out this morning but I realized I had made a mistake and had 3 days in Nashville. This wouldn't be a bad thing except the park where we are staying has no sewer....2 days using our holding tanks is manageable, 3 days could be a problem. So when we pulled into this amazingly beautiful RV park we were all ready to stay an extra day. And we will be sad to leave. Now that's a good sign! But we need to get further than 5 1/2 hours from home.
We did lots of school work today- the kids were super hard workers and did great. Tim rented a kayak and had a successful fishing experience. We rented a second kayak and all went out this afternoon for an excursion. The plan was to go for about an hour. We pulled back into the dock after 2 hours. I'll let Ryan tell his side of the story. My arms are rather fried and I wish I would not have managed to squeeze in weight training while the kids were at recess and eating lunch!
I was thrilled to find that our new shower head feels like one of those Rain shower heads. Ok, it got my hair clean which is a huge improvement over the last trip. And I am one happy girl. It's the little things!
Tomorrow morning we pack up shop and head to Graceland, we will make the Auciello's proud!

First day - Ryan
This morning we saw some deer. I had my first homeschool lesson and a lot of homework. After that we went to a diamond mine. It was fun!
First Day of School
Now I really understand why teachers get the summers off! And I only had 2 kids to work with, granted at totally different ends of the teaching spectrum. Kylie is tough because she needs 90% of my attention. I'm sure I will get it figured out a bit better over the next few weeks but my brain hurts tonight! I told Tim I felt like I was clenching it all day.
We took off after lunch for a 1:45+ min drive, which seemed like nothing, to Crater of Diamonds State Park. Not at all the plan but when we saw the sign yesterday we mentioned it to the kids and they were very interested. 2 hours of sifting and digging in the dirt revealed 1 small prospect which ended up being a piece of agate. Their previous efforts in "mining" spoiled them with their gem spiked dirt. It's paybacks for all the children that fish in our pond who later experience real fishing....
A 1:45+ min trek back to the RV and we had managed to drive almost 4 hours today in the wrong direction. We did try stopping (uninvited) at 2 chicken farms. Tim recognized the structures and Ryan said something about a dream come true so how could we not stop? Fortunately for Ryan (and me) there was no one to be seen so we didn't get to have the eye opening/jaw dropping experience of seeing a barn jammed full of fryers. We did get a taste of the nostril opening aspect since the a/c was not on recirculating air as we pulled up to the first farm. All I can say about that is - WOW!
It's been a bit chilly here. Mousse did not want to leave his comfy spot to take a walk before bed. It was a nice afternoon in the 60's and he was a better sport tonight. We all need time to get back in our RV routines.
This place is beautiful! We are right on Lake Hamilton at a really nice RV park. We have seen lots of deer. Tomorrow Tim is going to go fishing in the morning and I get to go kayaking in the afternoon!
Then it's off to see Elvis on Wednesday.

Round 2!
We have left the farm! Now that we are oh so experienced RVers things have gone much more smoothly. We left just about on time. There were no meltdowns and no mis-haps yet.... Which probably means we are in store for a humdinger (as Pat would say - or is it a whopper dilly?)
Really the only thing was that Phillip didn't make it home from the shop until 5 days ago. Why, do you ask, was he there so long? What a good question! We took him in to have a receiver hitch added for a rear mounted bike rack, which is awesome - assuming it's all still back there... and some minor warrantee work to be done. When Tim dropped it off he mentioned about the patch job he did on the roof from the "tree branch incident". Just wanted to make sure his handy work was admired. To which he was told "you sure did tear that up!" and we would need a new RV roof. So our very first insurance claim was then filed. 4+ weeks later we finally got Phil back and let's just hope the new pate doesn't leak!!!
Our adventure this time takes us out to the east coast. First stop for 2 nights is Hot Springs, Arkansas.
Carmin needed a friend. Haven't named her yet but she sure will have a great core - she is working her hula!
