Just for mom -part one of today- by Ryan

This morning I had a plan. I got up at six a.m. and woke my dad up. We went outside and made a fire in the fireplace. My dad just hung out while I did my schoolwork. When I finished all my schoolwork for the day I went inside to see my mom. She was so happy that she was crying. After that we went crabbing again.

After lunch we drove to Patriot Point and boarded a ferry that took us to Fort Sumter. When we got closer to the fort I could see the cannons that were used in the Civil War were sticking out of holes in the wall. Some of the brick that we saw was the original brick that was used to build the fort. The fort had three stories before the war but when it was over it had only one story. The first shots of the Civil War happened here. It was awesome. After that we did some more crabbing, ate dinner, then went to bed.

Today was the best day ever. I completed lots more of my left over schoolwork. We then decided to take Mousse to the dog park. The dog park was basically a huge enclosed field with a lake bordering one side and fence on the others. Dogs were running loose everywhere. The dogs were hurtling right into the lake too. Mousse stayed close to us most of the time. When we were done we dropped mom off at the RV and drove to the crab dock. This time we came prepared. We put bait on our nets and threw them into the water. Every fifteen minutes we checked the traps. After three and a half hours we pulled up three blue crabs. One was too small so we had to let it go. We brought them back to the camper and dad had them for dinner. He said they were delicious. It was a fun day.

Catching Up

We had a very long drive yesterday, which included stop and go (or inch) traffic taking 30 minutes to go 1 mile.....when we were 25 miles from our destination. Painful, extra painful as we had been on the road for over 8 hours.

But we arrived, in the dark, to our next back-in site. Tim backed the yacht in like a pro. We are staying at James County State Park in Charleston and it is an amazing place! Bike trails, fishing, kayaking and the most fabulous dog park I have ever seen! Mousse gets to go tomorrow so I'll have the low down and photos.

I need to back track a bit. Pigeon Forge. I have never seen anything like it. It's the Vegas strip for touristy, miniature golf, go-carting, pancake eating, As Seen on TV shopping aficionados. It was insane! We went to a comedy show Thursday night and we were fortunate enough to get Tim on stage which, then, made it worth while to have left our beautiful, peaceful campsite.

Today the kids had to be tortured with schoolwork - not easy to do in the truck, especially for Kylie. We went on a bike ride this afternoon and explored the area.

Not sure yet what tomorrow brings but I think it involves crabbing, kayaks and the Cowboys.....

And I guess I better make a clarification. Kylie bought a pink and purple stuffed animal snake - I'm not that cool of a mom...or should I say that much of a homeschool mom that I would have a real snake in the RV :)

MORE SCHOOLWORK, crab dock by Ryan

Last night we arrived at our next stop, made a fire, then went to bed. We got up around 9:00 and didn't start our schoolwork until 10:00. I had scraps of school work from the last week that I had to finish. It took about five hours but I finally got it done. After that we went on a bike ride and peddled to the crab dock. It looked like a swamp with little holes everywhere. I soon found out those are crab holes. There were crabs everywhere. Some people were throwing nets into the water and pulling them back in. We found out that they were crab nets. We came back, had dinner, and made a fire. It was fun.
