Flounder Fishing

After dinner dad and I decided to go flounder fishing, or flat fishing. Once it was dark we got our underwater flashlight and both of our spears. The reason we go at dark is because the flounder feel safe at night, so they don't swim away. We walked down the road to a nearby estuary and started there. Dad and I would walk in the shallow water, while I would shine my underwater flashlight back and forth, and look for either a flat object in the mud that looks like the figure of a flounder, or a flounder swimming very slowly close to the sand. When we did find a flounder we would get as close to it as we could, without scaring it, and dad would lunge his spear at the flounder's head. Last night we caught two big flounder and my parents are having them for dinner tonight. Today we went to a beautiful beach and found seal pups playing in tide pools. They were adorable.

  1. Looks like you have this beautiful beach all to yourselves - except for the seals. That is very special!
