Fly Fishing

Last Thursday my dad and I went on a fly fishing trip. We hired a guide and went out on the Snake River. It was the first time I got to use my brand new fly rod on the water. I had a bunch of bites, but the whole time I didn't bring one fish to the boat!  Before we got on the water we met our guide at a fly shop. He choose our flys that we would be using on the river. He choose big flys. My dad thinks they were to big to fit in the fish's mouths. I was pretty mad.

Several days after the trip I walked down the bike path that goes through our neighborhood to a small park (it's the type of park with grass and benches).  Flat Creek runs down the middle of the park so I decided to fish there. I had on at least five fish and I actually caught one. It was a 11 inch cut-throat trout. The best part was that I caught it with on of the flys that I made.

The Big Fat Lap Cat

One of our neighbors is a vet. She needed someone to foster a cat so we took the responsibility. The cat is an eight year old siamese cat called Octavious. He was very stressed out at the vet clinic and had bladder issues. He is very curious and fat. The dogs get along with him and he loves to be pet. He is also a big talker. We got him yesterday morning. Kylie is so happy because she has always wanted a cat. He is now a very happy, fat lap cat. Tomorrow I am going an my first fly fishing trip. It will be a half day long on the snake river. I am so excited!

Fly Tying

At my last camp I learned how to fly fish. I also learned how to tie flys. My mom bought me a fly tying set. One of our neighbors ties his own flys and offered to give me lessons. I have been tying some for my dad when he comes back. When he comes back I am also going to get a fly fishing poll.

This morning I climbed 1 and 3/4 miles up a mountain. It was the first real mountain hike that I have ever done. It was a workout! My dad should get home from his fishing trip tonight. Tomorrow my mom has another pottery class at the art center.

Steven

Yesterday I went to my friend Steven's house. He lives in London during the school year and stays in Jackson during summer. I met Steven at the last camp I did. He lives at one of those fancy neighborhoods that has a reception, pool, workout room, and a tennis court. It's kind of like a country club. We played ping pong for a while then we had lunch. After lunch we went into town and did a huge maze. I did it in seven minutes and Steven did it in eight. After the maze we went back to his house and had a water ballon fight. Then we went swimming. I had a lot of fun!
