The Fair - July 27

The fair started a week ago and ends on Sunday. There is a 4-h club that raises animals (pigs, sheep, cows, bunnies, chickens etc.) and an auction for some of the animals. It is pretty neat. There are also the rides. I got to go on the zipper (the caged ride that goes upside-down) and some other really intense rides. I got to hang out with Cole and his friends. I had a blast! Kylie entered two of her pictures and she got a blue ribbon for both. Kylie entered in the pig wrestling competition. She won the Best Dressed in her league. She almost got second place in the actual competition. She would have won a lot of money, but instead she got a big trophy with a pig on top. We all are glad she got the trophy (it was the first trophy she won).

River Rafting #2

Yesterday we were invited to go river rafting by our neighbors across the street. All of our family (including grandma) went plus another family of three. We were doing the same stretch I did with Cole's family. The only thing that was different was the raft. It was a one-person-paddle raft. We were on either end of the raft with our paddler-steerer in the middle.  His name was Paul (our neighbor).  He had been a professional rafting guide earlier in his career, so he knew a lot about the river.  He was a great guide.  Since the river was lower than the last time I was there the rapids were bigger.  We went through lots of rapids but the biggest were the Big Kahuna rapids and the Lunch Counter rapids. A New Camp

I finished my robot camp last Friday. This week I am doing an outdoors camp. I am also going to learn how to fly fish. On Monday we learned about water chemistry. Today we went on a hike to a lake. On the way back we had a run in with a black bear. We were walking down the trail when some people in front of us stopped. There was a black bear on the trail in front of us! Our teacher got out the bear spray and we waited for it to move on. Then it started walking down the trail at us! We moved back until it stopped moving. When it was tired of us it walked back into the woods. It was so cool! Today my grandma is coming to town for the first time. We are going out to dinner after we pick her up from the airport. She is staying for a week. Tomorrow we are going canoeing on a lake. It will be fun!
