The Trees Of Wonder

This morning I got my schoolwork out of the way, and after lunch we went to the Trees of Wonder (the Redwood Forest). We hiked on a trail that showed us the different trees. One had twelve trees growing out of it. Another had fallen over and started growing sideways. One was as wide as our dually truck! We also got to go on a gondola up a small mountain with redwoods everywhere! On our way home we drove through a redwood tree. Mom's car barely fit through it! Tomorrow we are going to Napa (mom and dad's paradise).

The Elk

Yesterday we moved to another RV park.  Now we are in Northern California, close to the Redwood Forest.  When we first arrived at the RV park it looked as boring as a math class.  The next morning we woke up with a herd of elk right outside our RV!  There were at least forty females and babies with one boss. There was also another herd of about fifteen male elk following the bigger herd.  Our RV is right in their route that they take every morning to different grazing areas.  It was so cool!

Last day of crabbing.

Today we got up at seven again to go crabbing. During the morning we got three keepers and threw back at least two hundred small crabs. Right before we left, we got another keeper. While we were crabbing we met two people (a man and his son that were commercial fisherman) that told us all about salmon fishing. The salmon have to be at least forty eight inches long to keep. They use lures to fish instead of bait and get about five (out of nine) keepers. They were out fishing from the morning until dusk, and got twenty four keepers. Right after they catch a keeper salmon they gut it on the spot. They showed us their boat and they even let me steer it! I had so much fun!
